Hello y’all. The weekly art challenges are back! This week (and for each week in June) my friends and I will be attempting to make an Illustration a week.
I will post WIPs sporadically as I go along.
I had the initial idea for this illustration a while ago, but it’s going to need a lot of work. Today, I rehashed the ‘merchant creature’s’ design. I was never fully satisfied with the original concept I came up with back in college, so I tried coming up with some other asymmetrical faces and bodies. Those weren’t working at all so I got some references of crabs and finally came to a kind of ‘crab thing’ that you see in the third image. I’m going to change a few more things about it though, to give it a biiiit more humanity.
Also featured is a reference photo of me dressed as an idiot the ‘angry customer’.
The other people working on the challenge this week are Cherry Au and Molly Stone!
